The article examines the military and diplomatic activity of Phlavy Aetsy who was one of the most brilliant persons in West Roman Empire in 7th century called by the later researchers and several contemporaries as a "Last Roman". It is showed a significant role of Aetsy in the support of relatively stable situation in the European provinces of West Roman Empire during almost 30 years (from 425 to 454). The author recreates the Aetsy#s system of political and military equilibrium between the barbarian people in Europe which looks like as an ideal realization of old roman strategic principle - "divide and rule", especially as West Roman Empire in 7th century had no sufficient military resources to continue the struggle against the barbarians.
