The article is devoted to the biography and scientific work of the orientalist Pantelemon Krestovich Zhuze (1870-1942). Authors made an attempt to show the great services to oriental studies and important stages of vital way of this prominent scientist. Scientific and pedagogical activity of the orientalist in the Kazan clerical academy, the Kazan and Baku universities is considered, the characteristic of those scientific works which, undoubtedly, rank the forgotten name of the scientist with outstanding Russian orientalists is given.
