The author offers her review of historical books and articles published in Russia, which are devoted to the problem of forming and development of the zemstvo intelligentsia. The author shows evolution of conceptions of pre-revolutionary, soviet and modern Russian historians about place and roles of the zemstvo intelligentsia in Russian political life. Historical stages in development of the Russian historiography of the zemstvo intelligentsia, which was caused by the change in research paradigms and generations of historians are distinguished.
