Democracy: Common and Different Interpretations in Liberal Euroasian Thought at the Turn of the XIXth - XXth Centuries

The article deals with understanding of democracy in Russian liberalism at the turn of the XIXth - XXth centuries and in Eurasian conception of the XX century. Democracy was not seen as an ideal of government by Eurasian and liberal thought. The representatives of the main ideological trends estimated consequences of democracy differently, but there were some similar features. Thus, both liberals and Eurasians emphasized importance of political parties in democratic state as by means of political party citizens can control the state and gain support in solving social, economic and political problems, multi-party system defends from tyranny. But in contrast to liberals Eurasians believed parties were not necessary in ideocratic state as mechanical electing system changed on organic.
