The article contains the information concerning basic purposes and goals of UNESCO - leading international intellectual forum. The author has made an attempt to examine the UNESCO reform problems in the context of modern global processes and to highlight the Organization#s role in comprehending long-standing global response to many threats of the XXI century. In the end some conclusions are presented concerning the mission and main trends of UNESCO activities at present time.
