The Regional Aspect of the Inspecting Activity of the Cabinet of His Emperor#s Majesty in thе Altai District in Late XIX - Early XX cc.

The article is devoted to the study of the departmental inspections of the Altai District in late XIX– early XX cc. During the period from 1896 to 1917, seven inspection trips of the heads of the Cabinet were carried out around Altai. Frequent inspections became possible thanks to the construction of the Siberian railway which shortened the duration of the trip from the capital to the remote region; they were connected with the general policy of the Cabinet for defending departmental interests. The analysis of the revealed inspections showed that they ceased to be extraordinary events and became certain control points in the current policy of the Cabinet in Altai. The decisions adopted as a result of the study showed the evolution of the inspections in the direction of a particular way of governing the region.
