In the article we attempt to consider and to compare the reasons, courses and ways of the decision of conflicts inside the leadership of the GDR with Walter Ulbricht. The author has concluded that the major condition of an achievement of a success in the struggle for power was presence of the arrogant and resolute leader leaning the SED apparatus and supported by the Soviet management. The conflicts developed in #top of power#, and the citizens of the GDR have known about them only after the repressions in the struggle for #unity of a party#. Ulbricht was defeated by Honecker which monopolized the party apparatus. The winner has used the #Ulbricht#s methods# for the decision of conflicts inside of leadership of the SED and the GDR.
