The meaning of name in a fiction

The semantic description of personal names with the purpose of explaining their usage in discourse is reviewed in this article. Investigating the novel "The Turbulent Giant" by Altai writer G. Grebenshchikoff we conclude that the name in discourse, particularly in a fiction, has quite complicated meaning. It has not only a pragmatic meaning, i.e. information about condition of it's usage in various communicative situations, but also a significative meaning, i.e. information about the way referent is seen in speaker's consciousness. The name also is used to show the focus of empathy being a category of "packing" of the propositional content of a sentence.
