The ways of fertility increasing of triticum durum desf. x triticum timopheevii zhuk. interspecies wheat hybrids

The influence of the second backcross on the F1BC1 (T. durum x T. timopheevii) x T. durum hybrid fertility was studied. It was shown the result of the second backcrossing is higher than that of F1BC1 plant selffertility by 2 times. Open flowering spikes as well as intermediate phenotype hybrids were recommended to be backcrossed. Pollen fertility of F1BC1 plants is not a suitable criteria to determine their seedfertility. No significant correlation was obtained between F1BC1 selffertility and the success of the second backcross.
