The paper presents the findings of several research projects on the issues of transformation of economic behavior of Russian population in 1990s. 800 urban and rural inhabitants and 60 experts of local government bodies, regional leaders of trade unions and employers unions and enterprise directors of Altai territory were respondents in this investigation. The main strategies of economic behavior of Russian population in the period of reforms were picked out. Analysis of economic actions of different income and employment groups were carried out.
