Land provision of rent settlements in Altai district in the beginning of the XX century

Using the archives materials, the author for the first time investigates the land situation of the Altai district rent settlements in the beginning of the XX century, which used to comprise the most significant and most developed agricultural part of Western Siberia. She sizes of the land usage, its distribution among different population categories are studied.

The rent settlements are represented as complex and contraversary social phenomena, showing simultaneously landtroubles and ownership tendencies among the peasantry. The given work deepens the scientific approach to agrarian relations in Siberia in the beginning of the XX century.
